Kim had majored in metal craft and received attention with painting and the artist has been emitting explosive energy with the ‘drawing project’, which began in 2002. CHOI&LAGER Gallery opened its doors in Germany in December 2012, occupying a spacious two-storey building in Cologne’s southern quarter. The gallery was founded by Sunhee Choi and Jari Lager with Jinhee Choi as its director. In May 2016, CHOI&LAGER opened its second space, located in the Jongro district of Seoul, South Korea.
Sunhee Choi has worked as an independent curator, art adviser and writer for the past 15 years. Since 2002, she has promoted contemporary Korean artists throughout her exhibition projects in Europe. She also worked as an art adviser, offering her expertise on Modern and Contemporary Western art to her Asian clients and her knowledge and networks on Asian arts to western collectors. She has been writing for a number of key Korean art publications such as Sunday edition of Joongang Daily, South Korea’s main daily newspaper. Her first best selling book on London art world Art Lessons in London was published in 2008.
In 1998, Jari Lager established his first gallery in the East End of London and has since worked independently as a gallerist. In 2005, his interest in Asia and Asian art led him to become a dealer of Korean Contemporary Art. Over the years he has participated in numerous art fairs around the world such as Liste Basel, Zoo ArtFair London, Art Brussels, Art Rotterdam, Art Chicago, Art Cologne, Kiaf Seoul and Hong Kong Artfair. He has collaborated extensively with Sunhee Choi on curated projects in Asia as well as Europe.
