Luiz Zerbini has developed a complex visual vocabulary in painting at the intersection of figuration, abstraction and geometry. For the artist the canvas is an expanded field of possibilities, either framing the viewer’s perspective, or building immersive windows that unravel subtle figurative traces.
Luiz Zerbini lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. In 2019 the artist had a major solo presentation in the group show Trees at Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Paris); other recent exhibition highlights include: Southern Geometries, from Mexico to Patagonia, Fondation Cartier Pour L’Art Contemporain (Paris, 2018); Intuitive Ratio, South London Gallery (London, 2018); amor lugar comum, Inhotim (Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, 2013); Amor, MAM (Rio de Janeiro, 2012).
