Press Release

The works of the artists presented by Alzueta Gallery at this edition of ZONA MACO share a common element: the creation of an expectant experience that invites visitors to anticipate, reflect, and interact with the pieces on display. Jordi Alcaraz challenges the perception of space and reality, using materials such as books, metal, and methacrylate to provoke constant anticipation in the interaction with the environment. Nuria Maria explores space with an introspective approach, combining abstract, blurred elements to create a meditative atmosphere that invites contemplation of colorful identity.

Violeta Maya addresses themes of identity and feminism through painting, installation, and performance, generating emotional and conceptual anticipation in the relationship between body and space. Andrea Torres Balaguer produces surreal, dreamlike images that explore femininity and identity, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and reflection that encourages questioning conventional perceptions and immersing oneself in dreamlike worlds and alternate realities. Guim Tió’s almost ethereal spaces serve as small tributes to nature and the world around us, turning each piece into a window to an alternative and evocative world, sometimes solitary.

Bruno Ollé merges graphic design and contemporary art, influenced by urban culture. His works, combining repurposed elements, emphasize materiality as the core focus of his practice. Through bodily movements captured on bare surfaces, untreated cotton, or white paper, Aythamy Armas creates markings reminiscent of calligraphy, attempting to tell astory, describing the map of a place one can enter and inhabit. Kottie Paloma, on the other hand, presents a bold visual language where abstract and figurative forms intertwine, using exaggerated shapes and bold bodies to explore personal and societal narratives, tackling subjects such as politics and human behavior with raw, expressive energy.

Together, these artists create physical spaces of expectation where visitors are encouraged to actively engage, reflect, and anticipate the multiple interpretations and meanings their works may offer.
