P21 is pleased to present Wavering Dawn, a solo exhibition by Keem Jiyoung, on view from October 30 to December 12, 2026. The exhibition, her first at P21 in two years following With Night’s Nape Between Our Jaws (2024), brings together 35 works, including nine new paintings from the series Blue Glow (2025–2026), 22 accompanying drawings, digital prints, and works in paraffin wax.

Tracing the development of Keem’s practice from her early Blue Series (2016–2018), which addressed tragic events in Korea’s modern and contemporary history, to Glowing Hour (2020– ), which explores the finitude of life through fire and candlelight, the exhibition reveals how her enduring reflections on life, death, and time find expression in a new painterly language.

About the Artist

Keem Jiyoung (b. 1987) received her in Painting from Kookmin University and her MFA in Fine Arts from Korea National University of Arts. She has held solo exhibitions at WESS, Seoul (2021); SANSUMUNWHA , Seoul (2018); Onewwall, Seoul (2015). She has also participated in group projects at various institutions including SONGEUN ART(2021); GyeonggiMoMA (2021); MMCA Korea Culture Center at HK (2020); National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea(2019); as well as Art Space POOL(2017). She has completed artist residencies at Artspace Geumcheon (2022); Incheon Art platform 2011); MMCA Residency Goyang (2020); and SeMA Nanji Artstudio (2019).

About the Gallery

P21 was established in 2017 by Soo Choi. Located in Itaewon district, a cultural hub in Seoul, the gallery opened with an inaugural exhibition by Choi Jeong Hwa and continues to promote compelling and original examples of international contemporary art. P21 is known for its unique exhibition space with two separate facades, respectively named P1 and P2, that enable artists to create site-specific works.
