Press Release

For over 40 years, our Munich-based gallery has brought together diverse media and artistic positions. At Frieze London, we turn our attention to the diversity of the multiple, focusing in particular on two dimensional editions and placing them in dialogue with three dimensional works in the form of sculpture.

Woodcuts, lithographs, etchings and screen prints reveal the broad spectrum of printmaking techniques and the different ways in which artists translate their ideas into the picture plane. Sculpture expands our understanding of the multiple, leading from the graphic line and the surface into physical presence and space.

Our presentation at Frieze London offers an insight into a programme that has evolved over several decades, bringing together artists from different generations. It reflects not only the development of our gallery programme over time, but above all its artistic and media diversity. Many of the works presented are united by a shared idea: they understand art as a means of observing the world while simultaneously holding up a mirror to it. Threats and concerns that were already visible in the past re-emerge in new forms in the present. Looking back thus becomes a way of looking at our own time.

The edition becomes a medium of observation and position. It allows us to encounter social, political and individual realities through the perspectives of different artists. By bringing together printmaking and sculpture, the presentation moves beyond the boundaries of individual techniques, connecting different artistic voices, generations and realities with one another.
