About Hang Over Shanghai 2025

Hang Over Shanghai is a new initiative that connects contemporary art with the city’s social and cultural landscape, evoking a sense of ‘hovering above the city.’ Set against Shanghai’s fast-paced rhythm and dynamic urban energy, the project aims to inspire fresh perspectives, creativity, and community engagement within the local art scene.

For its debut edition, Hang Over Shanghai brings together nine leading galleries recognised for their strong presence in the global contemporary art market. Each is known for supporting emerging and established artists, fostering experimentation, and advancing critical dialogue within today’s art ecosystem.
