Georg Wilson Biography

Georg Wilson’s work delves into ecology and history, weaving together personal experience and folklore. Her paintings evolve with the seasons, shifting in subject and palette as the year unfolds. Challenging the traditional painterly narratives of England, she constructs eerie, imagined landscapes devoid of human presence. Instead, these scenes are inhabited by creatures—more distinctly ‘animal’ than defined by gender—existing beyond the confines of human hierarchy, domination, or exploitation. Wilson conjures a world of interwoven narratives, inviting us to suspend disbelief and navigate through tangled undergrowth, emerging transformed.

Wilson is a British painter. She received her BA in Art History at the University of Oxford (2020) and MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art (2022). Her work has been exhibited internationally including Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery (London), Palazzo Monti (Italy) and Saatchi Gallery (UK), amongst others. She is a twice-recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields award (2021-2), was shortlisted for the Ingram Prize (2022) and New Contemporaries (2023).
