Press Release

Gallery 2 is an occasional programme of non-represented artists exhibited atPilar Corrias Conduit Street. For the first iteration of the programme, Pilar Corrias is pleased to present The Last Oozings, a new body of paintings by London-based Georg Wilson.

Painting with the seasons, Wilson’s practice draws inspiration from English folklore, painting and poetry, depicting bountiful landscapes that exceed the natural. Inhabited by wildling creatures that live harmoniously with the land, her pastoral visions are nostalgic yet also present a vision of a world left to its own devices.

About the Artist

Georg Wilson’s work delves into ecology and history, weaving together personal experience and folklore. Her paintings evolve with the seasons, shifting in subject and palette as the year unfolds. Challenging the traditional painterly narratives of England, she constructs eerie, imagined landscapes devoid of human presence. Instead, these scenes are inhabited by creatures—more distinctly ‘animal’ than defined by gender—existing beyond the confines of human hierarchy, domination, or exploitation. Wilson conjures a world of interwoven narratives, inviting us to suspend disbelief and navigate through tangled undergrowth, emerging transformed.
