Flesh Monuments is an exhibition by MÁRCIA FALCÃO showcasing her latest works. The exhibition explores the concept of human bodies as monuments, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between the physical and the symbolic.

About the Artist

Márcia Falcão places particular emphasis on the medium of painting, using bold brushstrokes and dense layers of color to explore issues surrounding the female body. The artists work is rooted in her own biography as a woman born on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, a place shaped by a landscape that is both unsettlingly beautiful and marked by violence. Alongside these personal references, she reinterprets iconographic motifs from art history, consistently developing figurative scenes that challenge stereotypes and establish a dialogue between historical symbols and the everyday reality of urban life.
