Press Release

P21 presents Haven of Light by Hyun Bhin Kown, Jong Oh, and Jin Han, from July 7 to August 15, 2020.

Sometimes, something intangible appears only to instantaneously disappear again, but the ephemeral form stays with us despite not having a physicality. In Haven of Light, curated by Hyejung Jang, three artists, Hyun Bhin Kwon, Jong Oh and Jin Han, visualize what has already disappeared in the physical world by memorializing their existence into tangible forms, utilizing their unique visual vocabulary.

Hyun Bhin Kwon engraves traces of light that seemingly appear and disappear at the same time on fragments of stone. Jong Oh draws paths of scattered light and air that can only be observed by absorbing through time within a temporal space. Jin Han constantly recalls her memories and overlays brush strokes on the canvas to postpone the inevitable fatality of loss. And their endeavors become havens of the intangible things.
