Miami—Beloved French Riviera-inspired restaurant, LPM Restaurant & Bar Miami, is excited to announce its latest collaboration with esteemed art gallery, Pearl Lam Galleries, exhibiting the works of Paris-based artist, Michal Korman, over Art Basel Miami Beach.
For a limited four-week period, the walls of LPM will be fully rehung with Korman’s vibrant oil on canvas works from 29 November to 28–December, 2024, offering a unique in-restaurant exhibition. The collaboration highlights how food and art both play a central role in creating memorable experiences and meaningful connections, reflecting LPM’s deep-rooted passion for art, ingrained in its DNA: from the Belle Epoque-inspired artworks that are carefully selected to decorate the walls, to the Recipes for Our Friends cocktail menu, a tribute to the artist, writer and bon vivant, Jean Cocteau, which infuses cocktails with history to take guests on a trip to a bygone era of discovering one of the most talented artists of the 20th century. This latest partnership with artist Michal Korman introduces a contemporary approach for LPM to bring art to the table, intersecting art and culture with the restaurant experience.
Michal Korman has created a bespoke exhibition for LPM, titled The Flower Narrative. The series explores the emotions sparked by leisurely moments of indulgence in food and nature, with each piece serving as an allegory for the five senses. Korman draws inspiration from the view of the main building of The Musée de l’École de Nancy, a museum dedicated to the Art Nouveau movement in Nancy, Lorraine, a city that holds sentimental value for him and links back to LPM’s French roots. The exhibition includes a large-scale, heptaptych, titled Blue Parakeet, which will be displayed in the main dining room of LPM. In this work, the viewer finds themselves positioned behind two gentlemen, observing a section of the façade adorned with a blue trellis and ceramic panels, one of which features a blue parakeet. This composition unfolds like a series of interconnected vignettes, inspired by the works of Édouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard, who captured cinematic moments before the advent of film in the late 19th century. Korman’s distinctive style blends graphic-like oil painting with a logotype signature, full of colour and energy. He speaks about the collaboration with excitement, saying, “I’m delighted to present The Flower Narrative. This exhibition captures my journey through the beauty and emotions connected to nature, encouraging viewers to embrace and savour these moments of quiet reflection in their own lives.” The series reflects the frivolity and playfulness of the Mediterranean, aligning with LPM’s own identity and menu offerings.
LPM has also crafted a limited-time bespoke cocktail and dessert menu that will be available to order from 2–8 December, inspired by the works that will surround guests while indulging in it. Accompanying LPM’s signature French Mediterranean dishes will be The Fragrance, a refreshing herbal twist on the classic South Side cocktail with aromatic notes of mandarin, cantaloupe and fennel, garnished with an edible Korman art print on rice paper. For dessert, the Pavlova aux Agrumes offers floral and citrus flavours that reflect the rich colours of Korman’s series, resembling a vibrant vase of flowers.
Gallerist Pearl Lam says, “We are proud to introduce Korman’s works and vision to Miami, in a special collaboration that reflects our shared passion for how both art and food create lasting memories. We’re thrilled by how LPM has supported bringing this to life. We’ll also be showcasing his works at our booth at Art Basel Miami Beach, alongside pieces from other international voices on our roster, creating a truly unique and memorable moment for us here in Miami.”
Nicolas Budzynski, CEO of LPM says, “We have always enjoyed showcasing artworks in our restaurants, but this collaboration is something we’ve never done before—fully rehanging the restaurant for a limited-time exhibition. We’re excited to invite our guests to experience a new way of dining at LPM— enjoying the classic menu they know and love amongst an immersive art experience.”
Known for its bright and imaginative menus that utilise immaculate Mediterranean ingredients, LPM brings the laid-back glamour of the Côte d’Azur to diners through a commitment to quality, consistency, and its signature French joie de vivre. Through this exciting collaboration with Pearl Lam Galleries, LPM invites diners to embrace the creativity and energy of the Art Basel Miami Beach period, enjoying authentic French Riviera-inspired flavours whilst admiring the works of Michal Korman within the dining room.
