Sean Kelly is delighted to return to Art Basel 2025 in Hall 2.1, Booth R2. Our presentation brings together powerful new works by internationally acclaimed artists alongside compelling new voices, with a number of artists making their Basel debut.

We are excited to unveil Shahzia Sikander’s The Hour Glass, a monumental mosaic alongside intricate works on paper that merge Indo-Persian miniature painting with contemporary methods. Two major new large-scale Hugo McCloud works made from single-use plastic and oil paint continue his investigation into labor and material transformation.

New sculptures by Jose Dávila and Mariko Mori offer glimpses into the gallery’s forthcoming fall exhibition schedule. A meditative new sculpture by Mariko Mori in dichroic-coated acrylic represents the artist’s ongoing sculptural series delving into the origin of matter, time and spirituality, themes which will be further expanded upon in her forthcoming solo exhibition at Sean Kelly, New York in the fall. A new sculpture by Jose Dávila combining stone and colored concrete references the artist’s homage to the architecture of Luis Barragán, a focal point of the two-person exhibition with James Casebere this September exhibition at Sean Kelly, Los Angeles.

Coinciding with Julian Charrière’s major exhibition Midnight Zone, occupying all three floors of the Museum Tinguely in Basel, we will present Coalface, a striking new sculpture composed of anthracite coal and a gas lamp, which centers on the human influence within the environment. New work from Charrière’s Veils series, created with coral and chalk pigments, will be on view at the Ruinart lounge during the fair.

Our booth will also highlight significant contributions in abstraction, notably Rebecca Horn’s powerful Bodylandscape painting and smaller scale mixed-media drawings that embody her signature blend of poetic imagery and color. A monumental canvas by Janaina Tschäpe merges landscape, memory, and the ephemeral movement of color through dynamic and gestural brushstrokes. Callum Innes’s new Exposed Painting continues his investigation into presence and erasure. In her mixed media work, Donna Huanca layers oil and sand over digital prints to incorporate the performative element at the heart of her practice.

We will also present a monumental seven-part work by Idris Khan, After The Wanderer, which deconstructs art historical masterpieces into rich pallets of color and layers of musical notes to interpret the volume and importance of the original painting’s power. This work was on view in his major retrospective at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Laurent Grasso’s recent painting imbues poetics about time, past and future. A striking suite of intimately scaled portraits by Kehinde Wiley continues his exploration of global Black identity, representation, and power. Two of Marina Abramović’s early charcoal drawings will be exhibited for the first time.

We are particularly proud to debut two new artists to the fair, who have recently joined the gallery’s program: Lindsay Adams, whose vibrant, large-scale abstract painting highlights her dynamic use of color and form; and Ana González, whose textile-based works offer delicate yet monumental reflections on memory, violence, and landscape.

Brian Rochefort will debut new sculptures featuring his signature glazing technique. Following the success of her exhibitions at Sean Kelly, New York and the Hill Art Foundation, we will feature a new painting by Sam Moyer.****

Together, these works celebrate the depth and diversity of our program, highlighting bold artistic voices and visionary practices that engage with the world in thoughtful, resonant, and inspiring ways.
