Swiping and scrolling have become a common gesture. One swipes through dating apps, one scrolls through social media and the eyes scan through an infinite amount of information. The brain processes it and your gut disgests it and a feeling is created. A feeling of disgust, pleasure, joy or sadness that makes your finger stop, your eye pause for a few blinks and you breathe and feel.
When you enter an unknown room, the same things happen. The internet—a vast room of information—forces you to digest what you encounter, a digitised room Ersatz of sorts. In novels, the description of interiors set a certain mood for the character, in real life the room puts you at ease or makes you nervous. Contemporary design methods mixed with ancient ones like the art of Feng Shui become the method for channelling unsorted and mixed emotions and streamlining balance and good vibes and creating the perfect room experience.
Between figuration and abstraction, installation and sculpture, eclectic as they may appear together in the room, the works with their own individual atmosphere set a temperature and each work radiates a different feeling and when they come together like notes in a symphony, they emanate the perfect sound or as in a room with the correct display of the furniture the perfect balanced and streamlined room experience.
Each work, therefore, invites you to swipe, scroll, scan, ponder, digest and asks you how you feel in this space. Is the temperature ok?
