Press Release

Tristan Hoare Gallery is pleased to share a new body of work by Kaori Tatebayashi, created during her recent residency at Dean Manor in Oxfordshire, an artist residency founded by collector and patron Pippa Hornby.

Set in a beautifully converted barn and surrounded by a curated year-round garden, Dean Manor was created to inspire artists through close engagement with nature.

The inaugural residency welcomed artist Kaori Tatebayashi in Spring 2024. The resulting body of work is now on view at Dean Manor, offering a unique glimpse into Kaori’s ongoing exploration of nature, memory, and fragility, shaped by her time immersed in the Manor’s landscape and atmosphere.

The exhibition is open to view by appointment on Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd, and Monday 5th.

About the Artist

Kaori Tatebayashi (b. 1972) is a Japanese ceramicist, living and working in London for the last 20 years. While studying ceramics in Kyoto and London, Kaori explored what new possibilities clay could have and what this familiar material meant to her own identity. Its paradoxical nature was fascinating, simultaneously having a sense of fragility and permanence.
