Press Release

Midnight Dashboard is an idea conceived by Fu-On Chung on a trip home from Melbourne (Naarm) to Kirikiriroa on the banks of the Waikato. He saw a pair of pink, washing-up gloves flung across his parents’ brown decking after a day of gardening. This tiny, domestic gesture amused him. He wondered why his parents hadn’t used gardening gloves! Fu’s humour is light, always a little off-kilter, personal. The gloves on the deck reminded him of a car dashboard. Driven by a hankering to stay away from the dark (thoughts, news, disgust), Fu moves, strays, from the initial image to re-arrange the illusion in unexpected ways.
