Believe Pray and Then Everyone has a fate they cannot escape. The ultimate expression of that fate is “facing death.” Whether we want it or not, death comes to everyone equally. My work stems from a desire to capture the moment of this inescapable fate—the moment when the world we live in (this life) and the afterlife beyond it quietly intersect.
Does everything come to an end when a person dies? However, the deeds and artistic expressions a person leaves behind during their lifetime are passed down through the ages and continue to live on in history. Just as the works of Picasso and Matisse continue to captivate so many people today, the evidence of a person’s life continues to shine in the memories of others and within society even after death. Life is not something that ends with the time we spend alive; rather, does it not continue into the future through what we leave behind? As for how my work will be evaluated in the future, I leave that answer to the future itself; yet, without even asking that question, I simply continue to create.
anonymous.d “d” stands for “donation.” In other words, it means “anonymous donation.” For this exhibition, all proceeds from the sale of the artworks will be donated to organizations that support people with visual impairments. For anonymous.d, an artwork is not something that ends once it is completed. We believe that a single artwork—and a form of expression—encompasses the entire process, from the moment it is created until it is welcomed by someone and the proceeds are delivered as support. The artist who creates the work, the viewer who encounters it, the buyer who welcomes it into their life, and the people who receive support—it is only when these individuals are connected, and human kindness, hopes, and prayers circulate among them, that the artwork truly comes to life. Connecting people and creating this cycle is precisely the form of art that anonymous.d envisions.
