The “NEO MOOD” series marks the beginning of a sensation that has yet to be named. By blending contemporary sensibilities with the aesthetic traditions passed down through generations in Japan, it depicts a quiet tension where beauty, transience, and strength coexist.
By blending designs and sensibilities passed down from the past with the image of women living in the present, we are exploring new portrait archetypes that are not confined to any specific era or narrative.
In his exhibition, “MOODS,” the NEO MOOD series is divided into two spaces: one presents a world bathed in vivid colours, while the other unfolds a monochrome world stripped of colour.
Colour imbues a person with warmth and emotion, and at times, shapes their impression and narrative.
On the other hand, by removing colour, the very essence of their being—such as their contours, gaze, and demeanor—emerges more quietly.
Colour and achromatic tones. The present and the past. Beauty and transience. Stillness and strength.
Between things that seem contradictory at first glance, there exist ambiguous emotions and a certain atmosphere that cannot be clearly put into words.
We have imbued “MOODS” with the meaning of the presence of various women who are not confined to a single image or emotion.
As viewers move between the two spaces, the impressions of the women depicted overlap with their own memories and senses, transforming into something unique for each individual.
We hope you will feel these as yet unnamed sensations as your own “MOODS.”
