Whitestone Giza New Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition three is a magic number 21 by 'three'.
'three' is the artist unit with three members who came from Fukushima. They are known for their three-dimensional works and huge installation using numerous articles of taste like fish-shaped plastic soy sauce dispenser, character figures from cartoon, animation, and video game. Their primary production theme revolves around 'volume production and mass consumption' and 'identity', by incorporating elements such as 'self', 'others', and 'recognition' into the theme, they throw light upon the counterpoints between different phases like 'physical and digital', 'two-and three dimensions', and so forth.
In this exhibition, three purposely represents the number of works which consists of the widely distributed products. Thousands of figures dissolved and melted by the heat are reduced to a simple materiality with 'colour' and 'weight' in exchange for losing their original true nature with 'personality' and 'attribution'. The beauty of discontinuation which is acquired by the incessant automatic process of 'deconstructing, cutting, and melting' of innumerable figures: while there is a two-dimensional work framed by colourful 'Gameboy Pocket', there is a three dimensional work reconstructed by abundant number of figures-a series of marble patterns emphasises a state of incomplete integration.
We cordially invite you to come visit our venue where you can enjoy 'the spectacular alchemy of discontinuation and reconstruction' proposed through various unexpected shapes.
