Ai Jing Biography

Born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in 1969, Ai Jing is a contemporary artist, singer-songwriter, and author.

In the early 1990s, Ai Jing captured attention with songs such as My 1997, earning her the title of ‘China’s Most Talented Female Ballad Poet’ and setting overseas sales records for singing in Mandarin.

She began painting in 1999 and officially debuted as an artist in exhibitions in 2007. Since then, she has held numerous solo and joint exhibitions in Beijing, New York, Italy, Belgium, and other countries and regions.

Exhibitions

Ai Jing’s exhibition highlights include the debut solo exhibition All About Love at Today Art Museum in Beijing in 2008; I Love Ai Jing: Ai Jing Comprehensive Art Exhibition at the National Museum of China in 2012; the touring exhibition Love Ai Jing: Ai Jing’s Love at the China Art Palace in Shanghai in 2014; Dialogue, a solo exhibition at the Ambrosiana Art Gallery in Milan, Italy, in 2015; Flowers Behind Every Door, a solo exhibition at Shenzhen Art Museum in 2018; My Mom and My Hometown, a solo exhibition held at the China Industrial Museum in October 2018; a solo art exhibition at the Church of San Leonardo in Italy in 2019; and a solo art exhibition in Los Angeles, USA, in 2024.

Collections

Ai Jing’s sound installation To Da Vinci was acquired by the Vinci City government, Italy, in 2019. In 2013, her sculpture The Wave was collected by the National Museum of China, and in 2011, the painting series ‘LOVE’ was acquired by the DSL Collection in France.
