Cecilia De Nisco Biography

Cecilia De Nisco (b. 1997, Parma, Italy) is a contemporary artist based in Vienna, Austria. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Art and her Master’s in Visual Arts at the University of Arts in Urbino, Italy. De Nisco’s work primarily explores the ambiguity of human gestures and movements, capturing bodies in motion that are frozen in suspended moments, leaving their intentions open to interpretation. Her paintings often depict figures engaged in seemingly mundane activities, yet evoke a sense of unease and complexity, balancing between desire and violence.

De Nisco has participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and internationally. Notable group exhibitions include “Eighteen Painters” at Andrew Kreps Gallery in New York (June–August 2024) and “Memories of the Future” at Almine Rech in London (October 2024). Her solo exhibition, “Stavo cercando il tuo cuore lì dentro ma ho trovato solo latte” (“I Was Looking for Your Heart Inside There, but I Found Only Milk”), was held at the Fondazione Sandra e Giancarlo Bonollo per l’Arte Contemporanea in Vicenza, Italy, from December 2024 to March 2025. In this exhibition, De Nisco presented seven new paintings specifically created for the space, further delving into her exploration of human form and emotion.
