EYIBRA

EYIBRA Biography

EYIBRA (fka Abraham Brody) is reborn as an electronic- experimental project with the launch of their first lead single ISAAC, on April 16 2021. Co-produced by Mexican artist NNUX,ISAAC’ explores and illuminates numerous theories that the biblical persona of the same name was in reality non-binary or transgender.

They have been building a body of work based on research of non- binary gender that has taken them across sources such as the Kabbalah, ancient Greece, Sufi islam, and on-going collaborations with artists such as Lukas Avendaño (a ‘Muxe’, a third-gender identity of the Zapotec people of Mexico). Praised by the New Yorker Mag as ‘transformative’ and the Independent as ‘virtuosic’, EYIBRA weaves together complex electronic production and raw beats with soaring strings and pristine vocals to evoke a sound world deeply influenced by artists such as Bjork and Arca. EYIBRA has collaborated with artist Marina Abramovic, and their work is deeply influenced by ritual and transformation of consciousness through the immersive live performances they create. This has led them to collaborate with the shamans of Buryatia, Siberia (commissioned FABRIKA Moscow), the ritual music of Lithuania (commision Barbican Centre London), and mystical singing from the Republic of Georgia. They have been artist in residence at National Sawdust in NYC, the Barbican Centre London, FABRIKA CCI Moscow, and have appeared at the London Jazz Festival, Pace Gallery London, Village Underground, Sziget Festival Budapest, and the Royal Festival Hall London. They are recipients of grants from the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, the Arts Council England, and the EU Cultural Foundation.
