Gabriel Branco is a visual artist born in São Mateus, in the East Zone of São Paulo, Brazil. His production begins with autobiographical photography grounded in everyday elements such as funk parties, street commerce, and popular architecture, transforming cultural references into an artistic vocabulary that proposes the appreciation of the diverse experiences found in the periphery.
After the artist’s initiation on painting technique, his subjective expression took shape and color. In particular, through the technique of glazing—a process of introducing light into the painting by removing paint from the canvas—Gabriel Branco constructs abstract paintings, built through chromatic gradations, that suspend the viewer’s gaze.
