José Olano’s work (Cali, 1985) develops from his interest in balance and its relationship with fragility and chance. Through the creation of balanced structures, the artist exposes the unstable nature of objects and acknowledges accidents—those events that open up possibilities for his work, thereby generating a questioning around the intersections between art and life.
Among his most significant exhibitions are Jeune Création 2012, in Paris; Nuevos Nombres at Banco de la República, Bogotá, 2013; the 1st International Art Biennial, Cartagena, 2014; Interior Arrangements, at Shin Gallery, New York, 2014; Sucesos temporales frágilmente perturbados, Museo La Tertulia, Cali, 2017; and Los vaciles de la sombra, Museo de Arte Moderno de Cartagena, 2023.
