Born in Tokyo in 1968, Kenshu Shintsubo is a photographer whose practice centers on photography while extending to moving images, drawing, and diary-like fragments. Originally self-taught in photography through filmmaking, he later completed the doctoral program in the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts, earning a Ph.D. in Fine Arts. He explores the serendipity, continuity, and embodied sense of time that arise from his encounters with places and others, inscribing these experiences into his luminous works. Recognised for his portrait, landscape, and architectural photography, he has also participated in numerous collaborative projects with people from various fields.
