MAX COBALTO
b. 1985, SpainMax Cobalto as an artist is a conceptual project by a well-known Spanish artist who created a pictorial alter ego with its own voice, style and identity. The project will last 10 years, at which time the artist’s identity will be made public, as well as all the psychological and artistic implications generated by the creative dual work over a decade.
The artist aims to obtain an individualised language, the result of confronting the pictorial work from a radically different perspective from his usual work. Only colour, and this is a secret clue, could bring us closer to his previous knowledge and artistic creation.
SPACE AND COLOUR
‘Max Cobalto creates his paintings in a spatial way, as if they were cylindrical, spherical, like a universe. He paints in the air, places his strokes and colours in an atmosphere that floats, that consolidates on the surface of the canvas rounded shapes with a strange poetic simplicity. His oeuvre is painting in suspension, ethereal colour... His work, however, never plays with chance, nothing is casual. In a magical way, he gets each drop to go to the expected place, occupy the space thought, and what seems like a game becomes a mathematical rule that only the artist knows..... ’
