Patricia Esquivias was born in Caracas in 1979 and grew up in Madrid. She trained in London, at the Chelsea College of Art and Design (1997-1998) and at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (1998-2001), and expanded her artistic studies at the California College of Arts ( 2005-2007). With the curator Manuela Moscoso, he founded los29enchufes, an independent art space that operated in Madrid between 2001 and 2009.
She has exhibited her works individually at the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Madrid, 2021), Stacion (Pristina, Kosovo, 2018) , CA2M (Móstoles, 2016), MARCO (Vigo, 2013), Kunsthalle Winterthur (Switzerland, 2013), Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, 2011), Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, 2009) and White Columns (New York, 2008). She has also participated in groups such as Want to appear at night, CA2M (Madrid, 2018); Art and culture around 1992, CAAC (Sevilla, 2017); Fictions and territories. Art to think about the new reason for the world, Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, 2016); Go back, 12th Cuenca Biennial (Ecuador, 2014); The objects in the mirror are closer than they appear, Tate Modern (London, 2012); Report on Probability, Kunsthalle Basel (Basel, 2009); The Generational: Younger Than Jesus, New Museum (New York, 2009); Bending the Word, Berkeley Museum of Art (Berkeley, 2008); When Things Cast No Shadow, V Biennial of Contemporary Art of Berlin (Berlin, 2008); and Beyond Paradise, Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam, 2008), among others. Her work is represented in the collections of the Center d’Art la Panera (Lleida), CA2M (Móstoles), Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid), Musée d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris / ARC (Paris) or CGAC (Santiago de Compostela).
