Ray Ken Biography

Ray Ken was a senior Amata lawman and one of the first mento work in the men’s painting room established at Minymaku Arts in 2003. Ken’s mature practice centred on Tali, the sandhills of Ken’s Country, and Kulata Tjuta – many spears.

He held that senior men were responsible for teaching younger generations kulata-making. In 2010 Ken helped establish the Kulata Tjuta Project on that principle, creating an intergenerational framework through which spear-making knowledge could be taught and renewed
