Tammi Campbell Biography

Tammi Campbell (b. 1974) holds a BFA from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. The artist is known for her meticulously researched replications of iconic works by Modernist and Pop masters, such as Frank Stella, Ed Ruscha, Josef Albers, and Andy Warhol. She distinguishes her works from the originals by applying hyperreal mock packaging materials cast in acrylic paint or purposefully leaving some areas unfinished, playfully subverting the many myths and assumptions that pervade Western art historical canon.

Campbell’s solo exhibitions include On View, Blouin Division, (Montreal, 2022); Exactly Wrong, MAKI Gallery (Tokyo, 2021); \Boring Art, Anat Ebgi (Los Angeles, 2019);_ Bring Ice, Thanks_, Arsenal Contemporary Art (New York, 2019);\Concerning Certain Events_, Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon, 2015); and *\Why Can’t Minimal*, Justina M. Barnicke Gallery (Toronto, 2014). She has also participated in various group exhibitions, primarily in the United States and Canada, as well as the Canadian Biennale 2014 at the National Gallery of Canada and the 30th International Symposium of Contemporary Art of Baie-St-P
