Tenmyouya Hisashi
b. 1966, JapanBorn in Tokyo in 1966, Tenmyouya Hisashi is a Japanese contemporary artist. His unique Japanese painting style ‘Neo-Nihonga’ revives Japanese traditional paintings into contemporary. In 2010 he proposed a new Japanese art scheme named BASARA which is extravagant (beauty) and extraordinary (sublime). His 2022 ‘CORE’ abstract series echoes the pandemic and turmoil via the lines and colours of his ‘Meta-Nihonga’ paintings.
