Yiyun Kang(b.1982) is one of the most active and acclaimed Korean media artists in the international art scene today who presents projection mapping artworks that recast the space with moving image and sound. Kang’s syn-aesthetic world allows people to contemplate on the processes and results of a dichotomous way of human’s thinking and acting while dealing social, historical, and environmental issues of the past, present and future. She has held exhibitions at numerous institutions such as the Seoul Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museum of Contemporary Arts in Taipei, and UNESCO, etc. In 2020, she participated in the transcontinental contemporary art project as the only Korean artist and in 2021, Kang received the Red Dot Award for , a commissioned exhibition by Max Mara. Dr. Yiyun Kang received her BFA from Seoul National University, MFA from UCLA’s Design & Media Arts, and PhD from Royal College of Art (RCA). As a visiting professor at the RCA and a fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Kang is currently increasing her scope of activities by lecturing and by presenting her academic paper.
