Press Release

For her first institutional exhibition in Switzerland, the British artist Ghislaine Leung (*1980) presents a new series of score based works. Leung’s artistic practice is characterized by a rigorous, conceptual, and personal, approach that often traces physical and economic circuits as much as institutional and societal mechanisms. The result are artworks that emerge from her interest in the various structures underlying commodities, sites, and human relations. The exhibition is supported by the Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung and the Dr. Georg und Josi Guggenheim-Stiftung, with additional support from the Ernst und Olga Gubler-Hablützel Stiftung.

About the Artist

Ghislaine Leung was born in 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden. Leung received a BA Fine Art in Context at the University of the West of England in 2002 and a Masters in Aesthetics and Art Theory at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy at Middlesex University in 2009. Leung’s practice takes a critical look at the socio-political and spatial conditions of art production, its presentation and re-presentation.
