Taiwan’s Leading Public Art Museum to Collaborate with Centre Pompidou, Santa Fe Native Arts Museum
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts will present landmark exhibitions that contextualise Taiwanese art within a global dialogue. Save to My Ocula
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), which organises the Asian Art Biennial, has announced collaborations with Paris institution Centre Pompidou and the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) in Santa Fe.
Opening at NTMoFA on 12 April 2025, Of Anarchy in Music: More Journeys in Sound features more than 30 Taiwanese and international artists, among them Lawrence Abu-Hamdan, Liu Chuang, Christian Marclay, and Susan Philipsz.
With the New Mexico contemporary Native arts museum MoCNA, NTMoFA has organised an exhibition of ten Taiwanese Indigenous contemporary artists, including En-Man Chang, Aluaiy Kaumakan and Ciwas Tahos, set to open on 15 August 2025.
Co-curated by NTMoFA curator Jay Chun-Chieh Lai, Taiwanese Indigenous curator Nakaw Putun, and Manuela Well-Off-Man from MoCNA, the exhibition will explore the intersection of Indigenous artistic practice and political activism in contemporary Taiwan, following the state’s first official apology to Taiwan’s Indigenous people in 2016.
In a further bid to strengthen its international presence, NTMoFA will launch its inaugural international artist research residency later this year. —[O]
