Conjuring a vision of the Éminence Grise, concealed within the hull of a submerged vessel, under the dense frosted ice of the Arctic. Anonymous and ambiguous, in a state of alterity. Ill-defined. Succumbing to subterfuge. Projecting rich imagery, short on external coherence — blurred, contested and left unclear. Covertly contaminating, achieving outcomes rich with unseeable but deeply atmospheric agency. Contorting within the Grey Zone.
An indistinct situation where activity is deeply felt, but not readily conforming, is where these works and larger exhibition sit. Palpable and present, yet guarded by their own interest in anonymity — coated in anechoic tiles.
