Heri Dono creates and explores his work through installation, performance, and a search for inventive forms. These forms are based on the foundations of traditional art concepts in which there are no boundaries between art disciplines. For instance, his Wayang (shadow puppet) performance, all disciplines are intertwined: theatre, visual art, craft, dance, music, literature, architecture, etc. In installation and performance art there is no distance between the artwork and the audience, because both exist in one space.
