Press Release

As an international gallery with special expertise in the almost inexhaustible field of ‘Picasso’, we are once again dedicating a major extensive show to the artist that encompasses all of his creative phases and all of his techniques – in other words, Picasso TOTAL !

Picasso’s oeuvre is incomparable in art history: hardly any other artist has influenced so many styles, experimented with and manifested new techniques with immense creativity. The stories about his wives, houses and pets are so well documented that one thinks ones knows everything. And yet Picasso remains fascinating and still definitely well worth seeing.

In the year of the 50th anniversary of his death, we will , therefore, be dedicating once more a comprehensive exhibition to the creativity of Picasso with over 70 exhibits comprising oil paintings, gouaches, watercolours, ink and pencil drawings, linocuts, etchings, lithographs, ceramics and other techniques. This presentation has taken many years of preparation.

In addition, the Picasso-show will be a very special prelude to the gallery’s 30th anniversary next year.

A 200-page book with texts by Dr. Reinhard Spieler, Director of the Sprengel Museum Hannover and Ann-Kathrin Hahn, Curator at the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster, will be published on the occasion of the exhibition in our gallery rooms at Bilker Straße 4-6 in Düsseldorf.
