Press Release

Caption Seoul presents works by Doyub Lee and Eva Dixon at The Preview Seoul2026, examining how painting can be expanded and reconfigured through itsmaterial relations.

Lee Doyub develops an open-ended approach to painting by repeatedly layeringand removing marks on various textiles, where misalignments, residues, andimperfect traces create tension. Eva Dixon brings together found materials suchas patches, buckles, and cables, exploring the tensions that emerge betweendisparate materials and forms.

Working in distinct ways, the two artists traverse image and object, surfaceand space, presenting painting not as a resolved surface but as a conditioncontinuously reconfigured through material relationships.
