YUNIZAR

Presenting a new body of works consisting of paintings and bronze sculptures by Yunizar. In collaboration with Yogya Art Lab (YAL) located in Indonesia.

The art critic Aminudin T.H. Siregar mentioned that Yunizar's paintings are “critical parodies of our interpretative system in the art world which has been superficial in making meaning of artwork”.

In this series, Yunizar explores a 3-dimensional side of his paintings through the creation of his bronze sculptures. It is almost as if the figures, animals, motifs, and small objects in his paintings have been given a physical form. As if they just popped out of the canvas, giving viewers an alternative contemplative opportunity. What is also notable about the new sculpture works is that they are more colourful and vibrant compared to the nuetral and muted colour palette used in his earlier works.

This show celebrates the transition and artisitic progress of one of Indonesia's most prominent contemporary artists.
