Hunter Dunbar Projects was founded in March 2022 by Benjamin R. Hunter and Hayden Dunbar at 293 10th Avenue in New York City.
The gallery’s inaugural exhibition was the groundbreaking two-part presentation Ninth Street and Beyond: 70 Years of Women in Abstraction, which traced the evolution of non-objective painting from the “Ninth Street” pioneers of the 1950s to their 21st-century acolytes. Moving to a new location at 524 W 24th Street in Chelsea in November 2022, Hunter Dunbar Projects has joined a number of other prominent galleries on the block and is proud to present an eclectic program of museum-quality exhibitions with a dedication to creating dialogues between art of different styles, mediums, and eras.
Through methodically curated group and solo exhibitions, Hunter Dunbar Projects presents a wide-ranging selection of art from the last eight decades. Juxtaposing deeply established figures in Postwar and Contemporary Art with younger generations of painters and sculptors, the gallery looks to illuminate heretofore unseen connections and relationships between these practices.
