We are thrilled to launch Hang Over Shanghai, a project that brings contemporary art into dialogue with society and community, suggesting a state of being ” hovering above the city” . Amid the city’s bustling schedule and vibrant crowds, it seeks to bring new energy and imagination.
This year, we are bringing together nine galleries that are actively engaged in the global art scene, each distinguished by their commitment to nurturing groundbreaking artists, conveying an experimental spirit and critical perspective.
The participating galleries include: Layr (Vienna, Austria) LINSEED (Shanghai, China) MISAKO&ROSEN (Tokyo, Japan) P21 (Seoul, South Korea) Shower (Seoul, South Korea) Sans titre (Paris, France) Turnus (Warsaw, Poland) Tomio Koyama Gallery (Tokyo, Japan) Gallery Vacancy (Shanghai, China) This year’s edition of “Hang Over Shanghai” will be held from November 9 to 16, 2025, at 1929 by Guillaume Galliot, a multi-layered social venue in an iconic historic building at the heart of the city. With multiple events taking place throughout the week, the project dives into the city’s landscape and texture, sparking dialogue and connection in the social fabric. Resonating with the radical changes in the current art industry, it transforms art viewing into a decentralized, shared, and communal experience, inviting viewers to engage with art while wandering, exploring and discovering.
LINSEED was established in Shanghai, focusing on the practices and artistic development of young emerging artists flowing across the Asian and global scenes. Initially exploring the potential and flexibilities of exhibitions in alternative spaces and diverse contexts, LINSEED launched its gallery space in 2022. Discovering, representing, and supporting a new generation of forward-looking artists across different backgrounds and disciplines, LINSEED invites exciting interactions among the talents and institutions, and converses with multifaceted mechanisms and cutting-edge topics.
