KOHEI KYOMORI: Born in 1985 in a depopulated rural region of Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Kohei Kyomori grew up within a family of dairy farmers, an experience that shaped his awareness of the imbalance between declining local communities and densely populated modern cities. This tension forms the conceptual foundation of his practice, where questions of identity and visuality are explored through decoration and form.

A graduate of Istituto Marangoni (2008), Kyomori has studied the role of decoration across ceramics, architecture, clothing, and seals, developing a production technique rooted in handicraft as a distinct artistic language. His works reinterpret decorative elements found in diverse cultural artefacts—such as ceramics, textiles, and architectural motifs—through a contemporary lens. By foregrounding the handmade, Kyomori reflects on the aesthetics of decoration and its historical significance in an increasingly digital world.

Kyomori has participated in international art fairs including VOLTA Basel (2021), Art Expo Malaysia (2019), and Infinity Japan Contemporary Art Show, Taiwan (2019). His recent solo exhibitions include Decor is Painless Domination (Whitestone Gallery Seoul, 2024) and EXPRESSION M (Whitestone Gallery Beijing, 2023).

JIANG MIAO: Born in Jilin, China, Jiang Miao specialises in contemporary woodblock printmaking. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in printmaking from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. With a background in fine arts painting and academic exploration across realism and woodcut traditions, Jiang has developed a highly personal and experimental approach to printmaking.

Her works are constructed through a meticulous process involving more than twenty layers, each responding intuitively to the conditions of the moment—sunlight, breeze, temperature, and atmosphere. Using carving knives rather than brushes, Jiang embeds emotion and time into every layer of colour and form, transforming traditional two-dimensional printmaking into a spatial, almost sculptural experience.

Influenced by Eastern philosophy and ascetic practices, Jiang Miao’s work is rooted in self- reflection and inner cultivation. Her practice explores the cycles of nature, the flow of time, and the unseen energies that connect inner consciousness with the cosmos. Through her distinctive visual language and symbolism, her works convey a quiet yet powerful vitality, inviting viewers into a contemplative encounter with life’s rhythms.

MASAYUKI TSUBOTA: Masayuki Tsubota’s sculptural works are characterised by vibrant colours, rich textures, and dynamic movements built upon a solid structural foundation. His compositions shift and transform according to the viewer’s perspective, balancing density and playfulness while activating the surrounding space.

Working with materials such as wood, stone, and mineral pigments—elements closely tied to climate and natural environments—Tsubota allows their boundaries to blur and erode. Through this process, materials are imbued with renewed vitality, engaging the viewer’s senses and evoking memories and sensibilities that lie beneath conscious awareness. This resonance becomes a point of communication, opening pathways to deeper understanding that extend beyond time and space.

Tsubota studied sculpture at Osaka University of Arts, where he later received his master’s degree. His practice continues to explore the quiet dialogue between material, memory, and perception, forming the core of his artistic expression.
