In 1981, Frank and Eliane Demaegd founded Zeno X Gallery in an early 20th century townhouse in the Antwerp South district. In the early years the program of the gallery was mainly focused on architecture and installations with artists such as John Körmeling, Rem Koolhaas, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven and Patrick Van Caeckenbergh. Nowadays the gallery represents around thirty artists which operate in many different mediums such as painting, sculpture, film, photography and performance.
Read MoreIn 2013, Zeno X Gallery moved to a larger and more industrial space in Borgerhout. This location offered the opportunity to exhibit large-scale works and monumental installations. In 2020, Zeno X Gallery decided to reopen the former gallery space at Leopold De Waelplaats 16 to increase the visibility of the artists they represent. The main exhibitions are still staged at the Borgerhout location, whereas the more intimate South space is perfect to host small-scale group exhibitions or focused presentations.
Zeno X Gallery represents established international artists such as Luc Tuymans, Marlene Dumas and Mark Manders, while also showing the work of younger and upcoming artists such as N. Dash, Marina Rheingantz and Pélagie Gbaguidi. The gallery also represents the estate of Raoul De Keyser and Cristof Yvoré. Zeno X Gallery offers an international platform to its artists by participating in several art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze and FIAC.
