Adriel Visoto Biography

Born in Brazópolis in 1987, Adriel Visoto lives and works in São Paulo. For him, painting serves as a means to materialize intimate, often autobiographical narratives. Favoring smaller formats to establish a closer connection with the viewer, he explores themes of isolation and desire, exploring the persistence of images and memories. A diffuse presence inhabits his paintings: they do not freeze a moment in time, but rather accompany it, transform it, carry it forward. His work adopts a cinematic approach, shaping universes inspired by the visual language of film. By intentionally blurring faces or depicting characters from behind, Visoto crafts scenes that invite viewers to project their own personal histories onto them. This interplay between meticulous brushwork and abstract identities reflects on experiences that are at once individual and universal.

A recipient of a FAPESP grant, Adriel Visoto has earned several distinctions, including the Young Artists Award from Memorial Minas Gerais Vale, and awards at the inaugural Salão do Solar dos Andradas (São Paulo) and the 12th Salão de Arte Contemporânea de Guarulhos. He holds a BFA from Escola Guignard (UEMG) and an MFA from Instituto de Artes (Unicamp). His works are part of the collection of the Museo de Arte do Rio (MAR) and the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) since 2025.
