Alec Mingelmanganu (c.1910–1981), an exceptional Woonambal painter from the Kalumburu region of Western Australia, was known for bringing Wanjina figures onto canvas with striking, large‑scale works while continuing to carry on the tradition of safeguarding Wanjina by create small-scale rock art throughout his career.
