Exhibitions of Annie Leibovitz’ work have been held around the globe, including at the International Center of Photography in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
In 1991, Leibovitz was the first woman to have a feature exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.. Leibovitz exhibited Annie Leibovitz: Women at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. in 1999 to accompany a publication by her partner, scholar and writer, Susan Sontag.
In 2006, the Brooklyn Museum showed a major retrospective of her work entitled Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990—2005, which went on to tour several international locations including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., the San Diego Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery in London.
