Crusoe Guningbal (c.1922–1984), a pioneering Kuninjku artist from western Arnhem Land, was known for creating the first three‑dimensional mimih spirit sculptures, transforming Arnhem Land sculpture through tall kurrajong figures painted with his distinctive dotted surface designs.
