Have a virtual look at the two exhibitions on view at Christophe Guye Gallery.
The Presence of Absence by Swiss Dominique Teufen as well as Birds by Japanese Yoshinori Mizutani in the showroom.–The Presence of Absence:
The exhibition shows works from three different series, in which the artist carries out material-experiments in various ways and with creative skill.
With the help of light, which, in addition to the objects, unfolds as an independent sculptural element, Dominique Teufen creates astonishing forms.
The newly emerging realities become visible when all components are brought together at the moment of taking the photograph.–Birds:
Young Japanese photographer Yoshinori Mizutani (*1987) has turned Tokyo’s sky into the canvas of his colourful universe.
Turning his lens skywards, he captures parakeets that colonise electrical cables and populate en masse the trees of the megalopolis.
The tender, pure blue of the morning skies gives away to the cyan and deep purple produced by the city’s artificial and neon lights.
Drawing deeply on Japanese pictorial tradition, Mizutani plays with power and contrast using vibrant and muted colours.
