John Boskovich (b. 1956, Los Angeles, d. 2006, Los Angeles) was an artist, filmmaker, writer, and teacher. Boskovich received a BFA from California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) in 1985. During his life Boskovich worked and exhibited in New York and Los Angeles. After the death of his partner, Stephen Earabino, Boskovitch turned to his own house to create the legendary “Boskostudio” which operated as the artists home, studio, and conceptual theater. He worked in this Los Angeles home privately until after his death. The “Psycho Salon,” a presentation of a room in the Boskostudio, was only publicly seen in 2019, 13 years after his passing. Boskovich is a singular voice in the American art world of the 80s and 90s, and his work is now celebrated for its innovation and self-preservation. Boskovich has exhibited widely at institutions across the United States, including David Lewis Gallery, O-Town House, and the Institute for Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA) and is included in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA LA), Los Angeles, CA.
