We build houses with walls to guard us from the wet of the rain and the cold of the wind. This blocks the view. I make paintings to decorate those walls. My designs of coloured shapes on wooden panels in wooden frames yield new views. Field sketches, notes, colour studies, drawings and monotypes aid my memory in making paintings of flowers and still lifes, chairs and tables, birds and people, the ocean, woods, marsh, and farms which I hope express and elicit the emotional range of visual experience.
