Kum Chi-Keung Biography

Kum Chi-keung, well known for using sculptural installations in the shape of bird cages to explore social, cultural and environmentalissues, was born in Hong Kong in 1965 and received his Certificate inFine Arts at First Institute of Arts and Design Hong Kong in 1991. Hehas participated in numerous important exhibitions and biennales in theUnited States, Germany, Korea and Hong Kong. They include: 1998 “InsideOut: New Chinese Art”, a travelling exhibition: New York, Washington,San Francisco, Seattle, United States; Monterrey, Mexico; Canberra,Australia; Hong Kong; “The New Face of Hong Kong”, House of WorldCultures, Berlin; 2006 “The 9th Seoul Fringe Festival”, Korea; 2007-08”Made in Hong Kong”, Hong Kong Museum of Art; 2012 “Hong Kong Eye”,Saatchi Gallery, London. Kum received the Urban Council Fine Arts Awardin 1996 and “Fellowship for Artistic Development” granted by the HongKong Arts Development Council in 1999. His works are collected by HongKong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Shanghai Museum, OppositeHouse in Beijing, The East in Hong Kong, K11 Art Mall, Bank of China,Deutsche Bank, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.Plain Text
