New ZealandMiranda Parkes’s crumpled, abstract relief-paintings mischievously acknowledge a modernist heritage whose occasionally sombre ideologies are invigorated by her post-modern response to international abstraction.
Graduating MFA from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, Christchurch, New Zealand (2005), Parkes’s paintings were included in The Secret Life of Paint (2007) at the Christchurch Art Gallery. Parkes’s work is held in the collection of the Christchurch Art Gallery.
